It is neither small nor solemn’ - but it is a masterpiece!). This year’s Ugbrooke Music Festival 2012 will open with a solo piano recital on Friday 6th July 2012. Bring your own picnics and enjoy the grounds – wine and nibbles supplied – from 6.30p.m. The recital will be preceded by a talk in St Cyprian’s exquisite Chapel from 7.30p.m. The specially-selected programme will journey from highlight of piano music by Bach to Busoni’s outstanding arrangement of Bach’s legendary Chaconne in d minor. Then the second half reveals more masterpieces of the Romantic 19th-century piano repertoire by Chopin, Schumann, Rachmaninov, Liszt and Balakirev. On Saturday 7th July internationally-renowned trumpeter, Crispian Steele-Perkins will present one of his ever-popular voyages through the history of the trumpet and its music from Handel to Gershwin playing on period instruments. Again, a favourite, not-to-be-missed, so be sure to book early!
An exciting new programme will be performed by ExeVox Chamber Choir at Dame Hannah’s, Seale-Hayne on Saturday 11th November 2011 from 7.30p.m. Choral-music time travel over 5 centuries (from Monteverdi and Purcell to Harris and Duruflé via Mozart and Schubert), a collection of Anniversary Celebrations, up-beat encores and soothing Welsh nocturnes.

as part of the Maynard Concert Series 2010.
On Saturday 25th September 2010, I’m playing Beethoven’s 3rd Piano Concerto in Sidmouth Parish Church for Macmillan Cancer Support. The concert with Isca Orchestra starts at 7.30p.m.
Having conducted a choir in Ghent this year - and Mozart’s Requiem in Salzburg last year – plans are underway to perform in Venice next Spring: 8th-10th April 2011. The programme will celebrate the wealth of Italian choral music including pieces by Palestrina, Monteverdi and Vivaldi, accompanied by Crispian Steele-Perkins and his world-renowned brass quartet for RunBySingers.
A new CD of Bach’s 48 Preludes and Fugues is also on the horizon!
The Maynard Concert Series starred Young Musician of the Year pianist, Anna Markland in March; international trumpeter, Crispian Steele-Perkins in June; and will showcase ‘cellist Naomi Butterworth on Saturday 27th November 2010.
Peter’s plans for next year include preparations for his next CD of Bach’s ’48′; conducting a choir in Venice; a piano recital with John Allison on Friday 9th July 2010 in the 2010 Ugbrooke Music Festival; and with tenor Steven Phillips and ‘cellist Naomi Butterworth on Saturday 10th July 2010. This year, launching the Maynard Concert Series at The Maynard School in Exeter on Saturday 6th March 2010 with pianist, Anna Markland (who will be giving an afternoon masterclass and evening recital).
